Who's behind PhishIndex, why we started it, and how we think about your privacy.
PhishIndex is an independent security project built to help people spot phishing, block malicious URLs, and develop safer habits online. Every tool we make is meant to be straightforward, respectful of your privacy, and genuinely useful.
It started as a simple password strength checker, built just for fun. Since then it has grown into a wider set of projects, all aimed at the same goal: keeping people safer online.
Respecting your privacy is something we take seriously — selling your data to advertisers is not something we'll ever do.

Who are you?
We're an independent security project, not a company or a formal organization, and we aren't affiliated
with anyone else. We keep our own personal details private for the same reason we ask you to protect
yours.
How are you able to provide these tools for free?
Running this costs very little, and we cover it ourselves. This is a hobby project, not a business —
we're not trying to make money from it, and we aren't a company or organization.
How can I contribute?
Any help is welcome. Reporting malicious URLs is the most direct way to contribute, since it helps us
keep our tools and other users protected. Sharing feedback, flagging bugs, or telling others about the
project all help too. We don't accept donations or any kind of monetary support — if you have a skill
you think could help instead, get in touch through our contact page.
What data do you collect?
Our privacy policy is always the most accurate and current source on this. The summary below is only for
convenience and isn't a substitute for it.
- Your privacy is something we take seriously.
- Your data is never sold to advertisers.
- Your browsing history never reaches us.
- Wherever possible, processing happens locally in your browser instead of on a server, to keep network traffic — and privacy risk — to a minimum.
